About Our Area
Omer's Golf Course, Restaurant and Resort is located in the quiet town of Toivola, the southwest corner of Houghton County. With a population of just over 500 people, there are miles and miles of peaceful forests, lakes and trails to explore during your vacation in any season. Looking for a few suggestions for your trip to the U.P.? Give us a call anytime or stop in the Clubhouse and ask our friendly staff for recommendations. You're sure to love the local area as much as we do!
Here in 'Da Yoop', we love snow! And it's a good thing because with well over 200 inches of snowfall each year, we have plenty to play with! Explore over 200 miles of snowmobile trails in the Keweenaw (and over 3000 in the U.P.!), forge a trail through the forest on snowshoe, or enjoy one of the well maintained ski hills in the area. If you are a winter sport enthusiast, you're going to understand why the Keweenaw is called Heaven on earth!
We may never be quite sure when spring will arrive or what it will look like from year to year, but we look forward to it eagerly after 6 + months of snow! This short season is a great time to plan a waterfall tour, go rock picking on the shores of Lake Superior, or hit the lakes for some early season fishing. Don't forget to watch for Trilliums and other wildflowers to sprout up! And as spring is slow season for visitors, you can enjoy Mother Nature in uninterrupted peace and quiet.
Summers in the Keweenaw are truly breathtaking! Between the majestic Lake Superior and dozens of inland lakes and rivers, there's unlimited opportunities for fishing, boating, kayaking, canoeing, and any water sport your heart desires. And the sunsets are simply beyond description! This is the time of year to take in the many attractions in the area, including Keweenaw National Historical Park and the many historic sites. But save plenty of time for golfing!
If you enjoy the many colors of Mother Nature's palette, autumn is a great time for a relaxing vacation in Houghton County. Explore any number of country roads and take in the fall colors from one of the high points like the Porcupine Mountains or Brockway Mountain. This is also a wonderful season for hiking and biking, and a favorite of ATV/ORV riders. With a well-developed trail system, the Keweenaw is a favorite of ATVers and Side by Sides.
